In far too many instances, people hired by institutions we trust have used their positions of authority to sexually abuse children – in Texas and throughout the rest of the country.
When this happens, victims can sue the institution that negligently employed that person. Baron & Budd has extensive experience in this area of the law and may be able to help you obtain compensation for your suffering.

Priests Accused of Sexual Abuse

One of the most revered institutions in the world, the Catholic Church, has faced a massive scandal involving priests accused of sexual abuse. Priests throughout Texas and the rest of the United States have been charged with sexual abuse of minors, and victims are taking legal action in the form of lawsuits.

For example, in November 2018 six women sued the Catholic Diocese of Austin, claiming the diocese failed to take action after they accused a priest of sexually abusing them for years.

The women claimed the priest would hold them against their will and make repeated sexual comments and propositions. They say they reported this behavior to the diocese but were told to “have patience” and trust the diocese. The women also claim that the diocese first sent the pastor for counseling and then moved him to a different church in another city.

Baptist Minister Charged with Child Sexual Abuse

The Catholic Church is not the only religious institution touched by childhood sexual abuse allegations. In January 2019, a Cedar Hill, TX Baptist children’s minister was arrested and charged with indecent contact with a minor. The alleged incident occurred in 2012.

USA Gymnastics Trainer Charged with Sexual Assault of a Child

Non-religious institutions in Texas have also been involved in childhood sexual abuse scandals. A trainer with USA Gymnastics who worked with disgraced sports physician Larry Nassar was arrested in September 2018 and charged with sexual assault of a child. The trainer worked with Nassar at a former USA Gymnastics training facility near Huntsville, TX.
